Hip Hop Kemp 2K8 - the review

Yes people, although it has already been two months since we came back from HipHop Kemp inna Czech Republic, here's a short review of what happend during those three crazy days: we arrived early on Friday, and since we were only scheduled from 11 pm - 04 am on the Semtex / Jahmusic reggae dancehall arena we had time to check out the rest of the festival with its various hangars, stages and tents.

The line up was promising as always and we witnessed some nice performances from Pete Philly, Kano and so on until it was finally time to mash up the dancehall tent.

MANGOTREE, in this case Selectah Remo and Floris, started of the "DE SOUND CONNECTION" evening with a very nice warm up set which got the massive in the right mood... Then SOULFIRE HIFI from Kiel and finally yours truely, MORTAL KOMBAT gave the massive what they wanted to hear...

Everything from new tunes to classics, from soca to a little bit of jungle music and even some small live performances from LANDOMAN and UCEE.
The icing on the cake were the two lovely dancehallqueens Jara and Dani from BADDA GYALORE, who gave a taste of their talent throughout the evening...

The only litte difficulties we had were when it suddenly startet raining into the tent and onto our equipment, but that didn`t stop the partying!! So it wasn`t a surprise that the tent that kept playing well over 5 am was the dancehall tent!

The next day started very relaxed with some nice czech food. After that we made it once again to the festival area and visited some of the other stages again, for example the Unity B-Girl Stage, where Regensburgs finest female lyricist, Nia Gara, was performing...

The highlight of the evening was without a doubt the performance of Atmosphere and Brother Ali, and even more so since Pharao Monch unfortunately couldn`t make it.

We celebrated well into the night until we made it back to our hotel... On sunday we decided to go home to germany again, although from what we`ve heard The Roots show must have been absolutely awesome. But well, you know, we had places to go, people to see.. thats just business ;)
