About Us
MORTAL KOMBAT is a Regensburg based Five-The-Hard-Way Soundsystem focused on Reggae and Dancehall from Jamaica. But we also play Soca, Calypso, Hip Hop, Jungle and other music we like! So - everytime we come to a party it's time to mash up the place!
Meanwhile the MORTAL KOMBAT can look back to about 700 dances through germany, egypt, thailand, hungary, tchechia, austria and switzerland.
Some of them with varying sounds such as the PowPow Movement, Sentinel Sound, Supersonic Sound, Mango Tree, Blessed Love, Roots Rockers, Soulfire HIFI, Hurricane Sound, Shaolin SoundStation, Sting-Like-A-Bee and many more. And even more as support for artists like Eek-a-Mouse, Macka B, Ken Bob, Daddy Freddy, Nosliw, Mono & Nikitaman, Dr. RingDing, Maxim, the Sam Ragga Band, D-Flame, King Banana, Mellow Mark, Conscious Fiyah, Medassi, River Gang etc.
History
It must have been shortly after the millennium when Herti and Moatl decided to follow the example of Jamaican sound systems and fight side by side for better sound.
They started to lay the groundwork with reggae parties for a small, sworn-in group, and after they`d been successful for a while the insider tip of suite15 had been spread along the Regensburg reggae massive.
On their mission to revive the Regensburg reggae and dancehall scene with 7-inches, dubplates, a sampler and a mic they soon found some comrades. First U-cee, who took over the mic as MC and singjay in 2002, then Flo, who stepped into the arena in 2004 and last but not least Peter, our new Selector since 2009. Together they are Mortal Kombat - The Martial Arts Sound.
The Regensburg dancehall scene grew, and Herti, in the meantime engaged with the Regensburg Reggae label Big Belly Records, became one of the founders of Big Belly Sound. But instead of giving in to competitive thoughts and even more because of the friendship and the mutual support the Big Belly Family came into being, including the Mortal Kombat Sound as well as the Big Belly Sound, the Everest Sound System from Altötting and the Mango Tree Sound from Nürnberg.
